Who Are We?
MEANS Database, Inc. DBA FoodRecovery.org connects organizations with excess food to communities in need. Our online platform facilitates communication and logistical support to transport food donations. FoodRecovery.org has two major goals: to reduce food waste and reroute excess food to those facing food insecurity.
Our Ethos
FoodRecovery.org aims to be an organization based on mutual respect and collaboration. We believe that we are stronger together and aim to collaborate rather than compete. FoodRecovery.org collaborates with organizations of all sizes, from large food banks to community fridges. We look to operate through an equity model- prioritizing providing food to organizations who generally receive fewer donations.
We are committed to ensuring this food remains free throughout the donation process. We do not donate food to programs that charge individuals to receive these donated food resources. Food is a human right and not a privilege- since the food we receive comes from donations, we work to ensure that the food remains free to the organizations and people who receive it.
